Jackson County Circuit Clerk Office

The Jackson County Circuit Clerk handles all court docket records for the 16th Judicial Circuit. This is the largest circuit in Missouri by case volume. The clerk's office has two main locations. The Kansas City courthouse sits at 415 E. 12th Street in downtown Kansas City. The Independence courthouse is at 308 W. Kansas Avenue. Missouri Case.net is the fastest way to look up Jackson County court docket records. Go to courts.mo.gov/cnet and select the 16th Judicial Circuit from the county list. You can search by name, case number, or filing date. No account is needed for basic searches. Real-time data is available when you search within the 16th Circuit directly.

The court docket on Case.net shows you the parties in the case, every filing and motion in order, any judgments entered, and dates for upcoming hearings. Since July 1, 2023, you can also view actual documents filed in Jackson County cases from your own device. Before that date, only the docket entry text was visible online. Some information is kept off the public court docket. Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and certain details about minor children get redacted from public copies per Court Operating Rule 2. Juvenile court docket records, sealed cases, and mental health proceedings are closed. If the clerk denies your request, they must tell you why in writing. You can then appeal to the Missouri Attorney General or file suit in circuit court.
